The Citizen Tsuno Chrono AN3714-68L is the boldest way to wear Citizen's cult 1970s bullhead chronograph. It has a vivid blue metal dial that deepens in tone from the outer edge toward the centre. It's part of Citizen's Record Label "Gradation Tsuno" series.
A gold-tone chronograph hand cuts across the blue, a period touch that suits the dial perfectly. Three recessed sub-dials, a date window between 4 and 5 o'clock and a jet-black plated bezel complete the face, all under a domed crystal. The stainless steel case is a compact 38mm by 11.7mm, and the watch weighs just 98g. It sits on a single-row steel bracelet with folded links and an adjustable sliding clasp.
The defining feature is the layout: crown and pushers sit across the top of the case at 11, 12 and 1 o'clock. It's a direct descendant of Citizen's 1973 Chronograph Challenge Timer. Power comes from Citizen's in-house Caliber 0510 quartz movement, accurate to ±20 seconds a month, with roughly two years of battery life.
It drives a 1/1-second chronograph that runs to 12 hours. Lumed hands and markers and 50m water resistance make this blue-dial men's chronograph a practical everyday watch. Wear it with denim and an open collar on the weekend, or as a conversation piece with a navy suit.
What we love about this watch: Blue and gold is a combination the '70s did better than any decade since, and the AN3714-68L nails it. The gradient gives the dial real depth as it catches the light. The gold chronograph hand gives it the warmth of a vintage piece, but without the price tag or worries of a vintage original. It's the colourway for someone who wants their watch to be noticed.
