Citizen Series 8 Automatic 40mm NB6010-81E

The Citizen Series 8 831 NB6010-81E is a men’s automatic watch that takes Citizen’s “aesthetics of subtraction” seriously. Every surface earns its place, and nothing is there just for show. The 40mm stainless steel case is cut with clean facets, and brushed and polished finishes alternate across the case and bezel to give it a crisp, architectural edge.
Under an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the black dial keeps things clear: silver hands, applied indices and a date window at 3 o’clock. The steel bracelet carries the same mixed finishing and fastens with a push-button deployant clasp. The 40mm size suits most wrists, sitting neatly under a shirt cuff and on its own at the weekend.
Powering it is Citizen’s in-house Calibre 9051, a self-winding Japanese mechanical movement that beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has a 42-hour power reserve, and is regulated to -10/+20 seconds a day. Like every Series 8, it is built to resist magnetism up to 16,000 A/m. That matters, because everyday magnets in phones, laptops and bag clasps are a common reason mechanical watches drift.
Add 100m water resistance and you have a 40mm stainless steel automatic watch that handles modern life without fuss. It’s the most accessible way into Citizen’s Series 8 mechanical line, and a strong first serious automatic for anyone stepping up from quartz.
What we love about this watch: The NB6010-81E proves restraint can still have presence. Its black dial and faceted 40mm case look sharp and contemporary without trying hard, and the magnetic resistance means it keeps working properly in a world full of devices. As an everyday automatic, it’s hard to find a more honest one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Citizen Series 8 831 NB6010-81E suit a smaller wrist?
Yes. The NB6010-81E has a 40mm stainless steel case with 20mm lugs, a size that wears comfortably on most wrists. The steel bracelet can be sized to fit, and we can adjust it before dispatch.
How long will the Series 8 831 keep running if I take it off?
Fully wound, the Calibre 9051 has about 42 hours of power reserve, so it will keep running overnight and into the next day. If it stops, a few turns of the crown or a little wrist movement will start it again. Then reset the time and date.
What’s the difference between the Series 8 831 and 870?
Both are magnetically resistant Japanese automatics with sapphire crystals and 100m water resistance. The 870 uses the higher-spec Calibre 0950 (50-hour reserve, -5/+10 s/day) in a bolder 40.8mm case with a two-piece bezel. The 831 is the cleaner, more minimal design and the more accessible way into Series 8.
