Can you swim with the Citizen BM8560-29E?

The BM8560-29E is water resistant to 100 metres, so rain, hand-washing and an accidental dunk are no issue at all. The limitation is the strap rather than the watch — the black calf leather band isn't built for repeated submersion, so we'd keep it out of the pool and the surf. If you want to swim in it regularly, fitting a 22mm rubber strap or steel bracelet turns it into a genuinely swim-ready 100m watch.

What is Citizen Super Titanium, and is it better than stainless steel?

Super Titanium is Citizen's own surface-hardened titanium. It's roughly 40% lighter than stainless steel, and the hardening treatment makes the surface far more scratch-resistant than ordinary titanium, which is normally the material's weak point. In practice that means a 42mm men's watch that weighs just 52 grams and shrugs off day-to-day desk and doorframe marks. Titanium is also well tolerated by people whose skin reacts to steel.

Does the Citizen BM8560-29E need a battery?

No. It runs on Citizen's Eco-Drive calibre E101, which converts any light source — daylight or ordinary indoor lighting — into stored energy, so there's no battery to replace and no service interval for one. From a full charge it will keep running for approximately six months in complete darkness, and it includes an insufficient-charge warning and overcharge protection so you can't mistreat it by leaving it on a sunny windowsill.
