The Oris Big Crown ProPilot Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition 01 751 7761 4187-Set is a Swiss automatic pilot’s watch with a purpose. Oris released it to mark the 10th anniversary of Okavango Air Rescue, a Botswanan air ambulance service that flies helicopters and aeroplanes and runs a clinic in a remote, sparsely populated region, and limited it to 2,011 pieces.

The 41mm multi-piece stainless steel case carries the classic ProPilot fluted bezel and oversized crown. Its textured green dial takes its colour from the grasslands of the Okavango Delta. Large Arabic numerals and Super-LumiNova-coated hands give it true pilot’s-watch legibility, and a red-tipped seconds hand adds a flash of colour. Domed sapphire crystal on both sides, with an anti-reflective coating on the inside, protects the dial. The screwed stainless steel caseback carries special engravings for the edition.

Inside is the Oris Calibre 751, a Swiss automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) with a 38-hour power reserve. It drives an enlarged date window at 3 o’clock with an instantaneous date change at midnight, plus stop-seconds for precise setting. Water resistance is 10 bar (100m). This is a complete set: the watch comes on a green textile strap with a stainless steel buckle, with an additional brown leather strap, a special presentation box and a certificate.

The 20mm lug width makes strap changes easy. Oris has made mechanical watches in Hölstein, Switzerland since 1904.   If no one is available to sign, Australia Post will leave a card with details on how to collect your parcel from the closest authorised Australia Post Office. You’ll need to present a photo ID at the post office to pick it up. If you’ve authorised a Safe Drop with Australia Post previously, they’ll follow your existing instructions.
