The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time HCB006J is a limited edition men’s automatic GMT watch, released to mark Seiko’s 145th anniversary and limited to 6,000 pieces worldwide. Its purple dial carries the radial pattern that defines the Cocktail Time series, so the colour shifts from violet to near-plum as the light moves across it. The dial is inspired by “Edo Murasaki”, an original cocktail created by head bartender Hisashi Kishi of Tokyo’s STAR BAR, and its shade nods to the heritage of old Tokyo. Gold accents on the logo and GMT hand lift the purple.

Everything sits beneath a box-shaped Hardlex crystal, in a 40.5mm stainless steel case that measures 12.8mm thick and 47.5mm lug to lug, secured by a deployment clasp with push-button release.

Turn the watch over and the screw-in see-through case back shows the calibre 4R34 automatic movement, with “LIMITED EDITION” engraved around it. The 24-jewel calibre winds itself as you wear it, can also be wound by hand, and holds about 41 hours of power reserve.

Its 24-hour GMT hand tracks a second time zone, and the movement also gives you a date display and a stop-second hand. Water resistance is 5 bar and magnetic resistance is 4,800 A/m, so it handles daily life without fuss.
