The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time HCB005J is a men’s automatic GMT watch for the man whose evenings rarely end in the same city twice. A 40.5mm stainless steel case, finished in a warm rose gold tone, frames a deep blue dial.

The dial carries hour, minute and seconds hands, a date window and a slim 24-hour GMT hand. A box-shaped Hardlex crystal rises above it and catches the light at every angle, the way a cut-glass tumbler does under bar lighting. The case wears at 12.8mm thick with a 47.5mm lug-to-lug length, so it slips beneath a cuff without fuss. A brown leather strap on 20mm lugs completes a pairing of blue and rose that suits tailoring and suits the evening.

Inside is Seiko’s calibre 4R34, an automatic GMT movement that winds itself as you wear it and can also be wound by hand. It holds a 41-hour power reserve, enough to see you through a long-haul flight. The independent GMT hand tracks a second time zone on the 24-hour scale, so home time stays in view while you live on local time.

An exhibition case back shows the movement at work, and 50 metres of water resistance covers everyday wear.   If no one is available to sign, Australia Post will leave a card with details on how to collect your parcel from the closest authorised Australia Post Office. You’ll need to present a photo ID at the post office to pick it up. If you’ve authorised a Safe Drop with Australia Post previously, they’ll follow your existing instructions.
