The Seiko 5 Sports HDB003K is a limited edition men’s automatic sports watch, the third release in Seiko’s commemorative series for its 145th anniversary and limited to 9,999 pieces. It is built on the SKX-series design: a 42.5mm stainless steel case with a unidirectional rotating bezel, a curved Hardlex crystal and Lumibrite on the hands and indices for clear reading after dark.

What sets it apart is the dial, a deep purple drawn from Edo-murasaki, a shade that was popular in Edo-period clothing, finished with the 5 Sports logo in gold. It comes on a three-row stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp, push-button release and secure lock.

Inside is Seiko’s calibre 4R36, a 24-jewel automatic movement that winds itself as you wear it and can also be wound by hand. It holds about 41 hours of power reserve and has a day/date display and a stop-second hand. The see-through, screw-down case back shows the movement and is engraved “LIMITED EDITION”.

With 10 bar water resistance and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance, this is a purple-dial automatic sports watch you can wear every day. It suits weekends, travel and the office, and its 46mm lug-to-lug length keeps it compact on the wrist despite the 42.5mm case.

• What if I am not home when my order arrives?
  If no one is available to sign, Australia Post will leave a card with details on how to collect your parcel from the closest authorised Australia Post Office. You’ll need to present a photo ID at the post office to pick it up. If you’ve authorised a Safe Drop with Australia Post previously, they’ll follow your existing instructions.
