The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date x Cervo Volante, reference 01 754 7785 4038-Set, gives one of Swiss watchmaking’s most enduring designs a deep burgundy dial and a strap with a story of its own. The Pointer Date has been part of the Oris collection since 1938. Its date is read not through a window but by a slim centre hand that moves around the outer track, a quiet piece of mechanical theatre that defines the watch.

The burgundy dial sits beneath sapphire crystal domed on both sides and anti-reflective coated on the inside, which gives it a vintage profile with modern clarity. The 40mm multi-piece stainless steel case carries the oversized crown that gives the collection its name. It is fitted with a brown deer leather strap from Cervo Volante, naturally tanned and sustainably sourced, and closed with a stainless steel buckle.

Inside is the Oris Calibre 754-1, an automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 41-hour power reserve. The date jumps instantly at midnight, and the movement has a date corrector and stop-seconds for precise setting. The screwed stainless steel case back carries special engravings, and the watch is water resistant to 5 bar.

Oris has worked in Hölstein, Switzerland since 1904 and remains one of the few independent Swiss watchmakers.   If no one is available to sign, Australia Post will leave a card with details on how to collect your parcel from the closest authorised Australia Post Office. You’ll need to present a photo ID at the post office to pick it up. If you’ve authorised a Safe Drop with Australia Post previously, they’ll follow your existing instructions.
