The dial of the Bell Hora BHO902G/B has a spiral-shaped geometry. The hour indices, the numerals, and the bell stand out in precious gold on the jet black dial. Together with the additional numerals 13–24 arranged in a circle, the dial provides an intuitive overview of the entire course of the day. The bell symbol in the lower half of the dial refers to the otherwise unseen feature of this timepiece: The chiming of the bell on the hour.

The Bell Hora model is reviving a practically forgotten complication – the “Sonnerie au passage”. Exactly on the hour, the watch produces a friendly chime, alerting the wearer to the passing of time without having to look at the dial. Different to church bells, the Bell Hora only strikes once and tells its wearer that a new hour has just begun, fully “en passant”.

With a pusher above the crown (at 2 o'clock) the chime of the Bell Hora can be simply switched off. A black marking shows at a glance whether the watch is going to chime on the hour or remain silent.

Great emphasis was placed on a high recognition value. The needle-shaped hand, the double-digit numerals, and the fine line index structure make sure of that. And that is perfectly true of the Bell Hora as well, despite the spiral-shaped geometry of the dial, which not only appears to comment on the flow of time, but provides an intuitive overview of the entire day at the same time.

The stainless steel case is 43 millimeters in diameter, water-resistant up to 5 bar, and the dial is covered by a domed sapphire glass. The Swiss automatic movement, with a rotor that supplies the watch with a 38-hour power reserve, can be viewed through the fourfold screwed glass exhibition back. The module is based on a Sellita SW200. Over a period of 60 minutes, the movement’s module gathers the energy for a precise, carefully measured chime. The ingenious device strikes the sound fork located behind the dial exactly on the hour.

The Bell Hora received a renowned Red Dot Design Award.
