Seiko Prospex One Hundreth of a Second 2023 World Athletics Limited Edition Speedtimer Solar Chronograph Mens Watch SFJ007P
The Speedtimer Prospex watch collection represents Seiko’s professional timekeeping heritage and takes inspiration from the brand’s innovative history.
This particular limited-edition design SFJ007P1 is powered by a new in-house solar chronograph calibre equipped with a stopwatch which measures time to the nearest 1/100th of a second. Its limited edition run of just 4,000 pieces worldwide commemorates the 40th anniversary of Seiko’s world-first analogue quartz chronograph, the 7A28, from 1983.
Becoming official timekeeper for Tokyo’s 1964 Olympics was a turning point in Seiko’s history when the brand began making precisely accurate professional sports timing instruments, with no prior experience. This legacy continues today as Seiko is the World Athletics Official Timekeeper since 1985, supplying timing and measurement services to more than 180 World Athletics events in every corner of the globe.
Elements of the design of the SFJ007P1 highlight Seiko’s association with the championships – the dial effect is created to look like the texture of the running track, whilst gold colour highlights on the hands represent the glory of being awarded the gold medal. The official logo of Budapest World Athletics is engraved on the case back.
The Black dial, subdials and bracelet of this particular timepiece achieves visibility and legibility due to its separate indicators for time and chronograph functions. Conveniently solar-powered; the watch charges from both natural and electric light.
The hammer-shaped button allows for easier operability of the stopwatch function. This model is powered by the in-house built Solar chronograph calibre 8A50 that allows measurement to the nearest one-hundredth of a second.
Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Featuring the Seiko Solar 8A50 movement, the SFJ007P has an approximate accuracy tolerance of +/- 15 seconds per month and a 6 month Power reserve once fully charged. This model is finished in full Stainless Steel with a pull-out crown. The hands and the markers have lumibrite to make them visible at night (once fully charged). The case size is 42mm and thickness 12.9mm with a lug to lug size of 48.3mm and a lug width of 20mm and the entire watch weighs approximately 150gm.
The additional features of the SFJ007P Speedtimer are LIMITED EDITION on the case back, Screw case back, Serial number engraved on the case back. screw case back, Tachymeter function, 24 hour hand, a chronograph up to 60 mins in 1/5 second increments, a date display, with a Chronograph up to 60 minutes in 1/100 second increments and an overcharge prevention function.
What we love: The finish and the overlook look is simply classic. Destined to be a Seiko cult classic collectors model with an amazing history and lineage. With only 4000 units produced, this model is destined to be a sell out.
