For example, references such as SPB101J or SRPE45J1 are commonly associated with Japanese-manufactured Seiko watches. Seiko also manufactures watches in other countries, including China and Thailand, while some Seiko movements are produced in Japan and Malaysia. For customers seeking a Japanese-made Seiko, the easiest detail to check is the model reference: a J or J1 suffix is the key indicator to look for.

Seiko watches purchased from an authorised Seiko retailer are covered by a three-year worldwide warranty. The warranty covers eligible defects provided the watch has been used as directed. In Australia, Seiko watches can be serviced by sending them via post or courier to the authorised Seiko Service Centre in Sydney. Customers should complete the service request form on the Seiko website, include their E-Guarantee reference number or original paper guarantee and receipt, and use signature-on-delivery with appropriate insurance when sending the watch. Customers can also drop the watches off to the Starbuy showroom for us to forward to Seiko on your behalf. For warranty assessment, watches covered by an E-Guarantee require the guarantee reference number. If the watch was supplied with a paper guarantee, the original receipt and guarantee booklet or card must be included. Photocopies or scanned warranty documents may not be accepted.

JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market. In Seiko watches, JDM refers to models that were originally made, distributed, and intended for sale within Japan. JDM Seiko watches can be different from international Seiko models because they may feature Japan-only designs, unique dial colours, special references, limited releases, or bilingual day wheels with Kanji and English. These details make JDM models especially appealing to collectors who value exclusivity and Japanese-market design. Because JDM Seiko watches are produced for the Japanese market, they are generally not sold through authorised Seiko distributors outside Japan. Customers outside Japan usually need to source them through specialist importers, international retailers, or the secondary market.
