Frequently Asked Questions
Instead of a date window, the Big Crown uses a fourth central hand with a red arrow tip that points to the current date on a ring around the dial's edge. You advance it via the crown. It's the collection's signature complication, in continuous production since 1938.
The collection spans 34mm, 36mm, 38mm and 40mm. The 38mm models sit around 45.5mm lug-to-lug and ~12.2mm thick; the 40mm Calibre 403 is 47.5mm lug-to-lug. As a rule of thumb: 34–36mm for smaller or dressier wrists, 38mm as the versatile all-rounder, 40mm for larger wrists or more presence.
Most are automatic (self-winding). Core models use the Oris 754 (Sellita SW200 base) with a ~38-hour power reserve. The premium in-house Calibre 403 delivers a 5-day (120-hour) reserve, -3/+5 sec/day accuracy, strong anti-magnetism and a 10-year warranty; a hand-wound Calibre 473 is also offered. Water resistance across the line is 50m.
Bronze variants: These models naturally oxidize, darken, and develop a completely unique patina over time based on your skin chemistry and environment. Stainless steel: Ideal if you want a classic, crisp look that stays shiny and pristine forever.
The Limited Editions are always a collector favourite. The current bestsellers are the Lou Gehrig Limited Edition along with the Cervo Volante models including the Star Project 1 with the 80th Anniversary Bronze dial being a firm favourite.
