Ball Watch Company Engineer M Marvelight NM2128C-S1C-BK Mens Automatic Watch. Case Size 43mm.

In watchmaking, perhaps the greatest step forward happened after two trains collided in April 1891, the result of a malfunctioning watch that belonged to one of the train engineers. Afterward, watchmaker Webb C. Ball was hired to establish strict standards of performance for all railroad watches. His system directly influenced watchmaking standards of today. In his honor, the Engineer M Marvelight runs on the first Ball manufacture chronometer movement, BALL RRM7309-C. It is a caliber that has been designed and tested to meet the precision requirements of mechanical watch enthusiasts and explorers everywhere.

Caliber RRM7309-C is equipped with an 80-hour power reserve, ensuring that the Marvelight will display precise time on Monday after having taken it off on the previous Friday night. While the easiest way to extend a power reserve is to lower its frequency, caliber RRM7309-C still features an incredible frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz) with rigorously-tested precision from the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).

The understated dial of the NM2128C-S1C-BK is kept free of any unnecessary detail that could reduce its readability, while simultaneously adding to the timepiece’s overall sport elegant design. The stainless steel bracelet with a folding buckle features a contrast between the brushed finish of the external links and the polished internal links, completing the refined and sporty look.

With a sapphire crystal case back, the polished movement’s ribbing, perlage and spiral patterns are on full display, alongside the rotor’s RR logo that pays homage to the Official Railroad Standard created by Webb C. Ball. The movement’s precision and beauty is protected by stainless steel construction, shock resistance to 5,000Gs, anti-magnetic protection to 4,800A/m and water resistant to 100m.

As Webb C. Ball required maximum legibility on railroad watches, the dial’s hour batons feature the Ball micro gas tubes for revolutionary luminosity. In the dark, the 12 o’clock index stands out in orange, while the remaining indexes give off a superb and intense green glow. This phenomenal lume can last up to 25 years and requires no recharging from any outside light or energy source.

The Ball Engineer M Marvelight Mens Automatic Watch NM2128C-S1C-BK features include a full Stainless Steel case, a size of 43mm and thickness of 13.4mm with a lug-to-lug size of 50mm and a lug width of 21mm. The bracelet is also stainless steel with the with folding buckle. The glass used is anti-reflective Sapphire Crystal. The Black dial has hours, minutes, sweeping second hand along with a Date display. The watch features a Water Resistance rating of 100m / 330ft and an Anti-Magnetism rating of 4800A/m. For luminence there are 15 micro gas tubes on hour, minute and second hand for night reading capability. The crown is a screw-lock type. The watch weighs 150gm approximately.

What we like: The most classic of dials, this black dial mens watch is suitable for the smaller wrists and is the perfect accessory for formal or informal uses. The historical significance just adds to the charm of this timepiece.
