The Engineer Hydrocarbon NEDU represents major technological innovation in the design of diving watches. Dedicated to the Navy Experimental Diving Unit (NEDU) – a United States Navy unit responsible for rolling out operational diving and decompression rules for the US Armed Forces – the NEDU timepiece is a tool watch of the highest order, featuring extraordinary water resistance and technology strong enough for military missions.

Along with 600 meter water resistance, the NEDU DC3226A-S6C-BE features a world first in watchmaking: the automatic helium release valve is directly incorporated into the crown. This patented BALL innovation allows helium, hydrogen and other gases to safely escape during decompression – eliminating damage. The chronograph functions are also fully operational under water thanks to the design of the pushers.

The automatic BALL RR1402-C movement is a chronograph caliber that measures and indicates elapsed time up to 12 hours. Its COSC certified precision is protected by anti-shock and anti-magnetic technology. The self-winding movement is securely housed inside a robust 42mm case with a thickness of 17.3mm, while the case back features a diver motif echoing NEDU’s official emblem.

Adding to the already utility wear and functionality of this timepiece, built from chromed pure black ceramic, the uni-directional rotating bezel is exceptionally resistant to corrosion, scratches and ultraviolet rays. Its ergonomic contours ensure precise handling even when wearing diving gloves, while the oversized numerals and graduation enable immediate legibility. Supporting the bezel are two chamfers cut into the case flange, acting like drains to expel any trapped water.

To remain visible even at the darkest depths, the dial’s hour indexes, hands and pushers of the NEDU DC3226A-S6C-BE are outfitted with luminous micro gas tubes. The iconic luminosity of Ball Watches requires no external source of light or energy while being up to 100 times more efficient than conventional luminous paints. Day and night, the dial design and the contrast between the graduation, seconds hand and hands on the sub-dials provide excellent legibility.

The specifics of the NEDU DC3226A-S6C-BE include a Grade 5 Titanium case with a size of 42mm and thickness of 17.3mm with a lug-to-lug size of 53.55mm. The bracelet is Tapered titanium and stainless steel with patented folding buckle & extension system. The NEDU features the Ball patented crown protection system. The glass used is anti-reflective Sapphire Crystal. The black dial is topped by a ceramic luminous unidirectional rotating bezel. The watch features a Water Resistance rating of 600m / 2000ft and an Anti-Magnetism rating of 4800A/m. For luminence there are 21 micro gas tubes on hour, minute, second hands, dial and pushers for night reading capability.

The Ball NEDU DC3226A-S6C-BE uses the mechanical automatic BALL RR1402-C caliber which is chronometer certified COSC.
