A revival of a classic 1930’s Oris pilots watch, the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date brings a touch of class to the wrist thanks to its vintage inspired case and timeless dial design. Oris have been masters at designing pilots watches since the dawn of aviation including their own signature style alongside contemporary automatic movements. This Oris Big Crown Cervo Volante Pointer Date boasts an exceptional stainless steel case and coined edged bezel measuring to a comfortable 38mm in size and an elegant dark brown leather strap fitted with a stainless steel buckle.

Continuing to tribute one of Oris’ most historically important watches, this Oris Big Crown Cervo Volante Pointer Date watch includes a sleek grey dial decorated with vintage inspired hour and minute hands and Arabic numerals coated in Superluminova. Special scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment is used to protect the dial and add an extra element of durability to the timepiece. The Oris Pointer Calendar movement has been a favourite with the brand for over 70 years and this particular Oris Big Crown watch is equipped with the Oris 754 automatic winding calibre to power the calendar function hand which points at the date adorned around the edge of the dial. The self-winding movement also impresses with 26 jewels, 28’800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 38 hours.

In 2017, friends Kadri Vunder Fontana, a biotechnology engineer and experienced businesswoman, and Conny Thiel-Egenter, a biologist specialising in nature protection and wildlife and habitat management, founded Cervo Volante. Their vision was to take the waste, specifically deer skins, and transform them into beautiful, hard-wearing and ultimately sustainable accessories. Their business has grown quickly. A year ago and on learning of Oris’s Change for the Better campaign, Cervo Volante approached Oris and asked to collaborate on a sustainable deer leather strap project.
